How to write a product caption so customers order

Last updated: 2026-10-24

A good caption answers the customer's questions before they ask them: what the product is, how much it costs, what is available, and how to order it. Put that in the first two lines, then add the details, then tell the customer clearly what to do to order. You do not need long text, what matters is that the customer finds everything they need quickly.

First line: what the product is and its price

Many people do not read the whole caption, so make the first line enough on its own. An example for illustration only:

  • Soft summer dress, 38,000 IQD.
  • Perfume 50 ml, 35,000 IQD, delivery to every province.
  1. 1Soft summer dress, 38,000 IQDFirst line: product and price
  2. 2Colours: blue and white. Sizes: S, M, LDetails: colours and sizes
  3. 3Delivery to every province, cash on deliveryDelivery and payment
  4. 4Order from the link in the bioHow the customer orders

Then the details the customer needs

  • The colours and sizes you really have.
  • The material, ingredients or size, only what matters for this product.
  • The quantity left, if it is low.
  • The delivery fee and time, or that it depends on the province.
  • How to pay, for example: cash on delivery.

Tell the customer how to order

Do not make the customer guess. Write one clear step, like "order from the link in the bio" or "message us on WhatsApp". Note: links inside an Instagram caption cannot be tapped, so put the link in your bio or in a story, and write in the caption where to find it.

Simple and tidy

  • Use short lines with space between them instead of one long block.
  • Write in a friendly, clear way, and do not exaggerate the product.
  • Three to five hashtags about the product and the city are enough.
  • Use the same format for all your products, so the customer learns where to find the price.

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting the price or writing it "in DM".
  • A long caption with no order that nobody reads.
  • Promising something you cannot do, like delivery in an hour.
  • Not saying how the customer can order.
  • Too many hashtags that have nothing to do with the product.

Weak

  • New arrival, order in DM

Clear

  • Soft summer dress, 38,000 IQD
  • Blue and white, S M L
  • Delivery to every province
  • Order from the link in the bio

How Tisawag helps

In Tisawag every product shows its price, options and photo in your store, so you do not need to write every detail in every caption, and it is enough to say "details and ordering from the link". You get a link for the bio, one for stories, one for replies to messages and a QR code, and every order records which link it came from, so on the Pro plan you can see which one brings you more orders. Every product also has a direct link to put in your reply. And the dashboard has a ready text for your bio that you can copy.

Common questions

How long should a caption be?
As long as it takes to answer the customer's questions, and a few short lines is often enough. What matters most is that the price and how to order come first.
Should I put the link in the caption?
A link in the caption cannot be tapped on Instagram, so put it in your bio or story, and write in the caption where the customer finds it.
How many hashtags should I use?
Three to five about the product and the city are enough, instead of a long list that has nothing to do with the product.
Should I write the same caption for every product?
Keep the same order (product and price, then details, then how to order) and change the content for each product.

No commitment and nothing to install. If you don't like it, we switch the store off at no cost.
